After the death of Irene, Edward remarried to Agnes LaPlante on May 17, 1944. Agnes was born on December 22, 1895 and died in July 1966. Mrs. Irene Houde, 48, 209 South Alma Avenue, West Kankakee died at 4:15 this morning at her home after illness of a year.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9 o’clock Friday morning in St. Rose Church with burial in Mt. Calvary cemetery. Friends may call at the Senesac funeral home after 7 o’clock this evening until the time of the services.
She is survived by the widower, Edward, a daughter Bonita Jean, her mother, Mrs. Hattie Miller of Kankakee, sisters Mrs. Melissa Newman of West Palm Beach, Fla., Mrs. Bernice Gerber and Mrs. Freda Haarer of Kankakee and brothers Ernest and Leo, also of this city.

Funeral services for Edward Houde, 66, 368 S. Fifth Ave., who died unexpectedly Tuesday morning at St. Mary’s Hospital, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Rose Church.
Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, where graveside military rites will be conducted by the American Legion.
Visitors may call at the Senesac Funeral Home after 7 tonight and the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Thursday.
Mr. Houde was born Jan. 18, 1898 in Bourbonnais, the son of the later Mr. And Mrs. Philip Houde.
A lifelong Kankakee County resident, he was a veteran of World War I and was employed as a cabinet maker. He was a member of American Legion post 766 and was a charter member of the Disabled American Veterans.
On May 17, 1944 he married the former Agnes LaPlante, who survives.
Other survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. Donald Brave of Chebanse; three grandchildren; stepmother, Mrs. Anna Houde; sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Wall of Chicago, Mrs. Patricia Brunshwiler of California and Mother Jane of the Servants of the Holy Heart of Mary at Champaign; and brothers, Albert and Emanuel, both of Kankakee.
He was preceded by four brothers, a sister and his first wife, the former Irene Miller who died in 1942.
